Did you know that strawberries are great for your teeth? The malic acid in strawberries is a natural astringent that will gently remove surface tooth discoloration.

  • Other high-fibre fruits and vegetables are great on many fronts. As well as a scrubbing effect on the teeth, these foods also contain calcium and phosphates that help rebuild minerals in the teeth. Yay!
  • Water is of course essential for general health and is also included in foods good for teeth as a rinsing agent.
  • Surprisingly, green and black tea both contain polyphenols that act in tandem with mouth bacteria and fight plaque. Anyone fancy a cuppa?
  • As we all know, nuts are a superfood. But did you know that nuts are actually great for your smile? Many nuts contain the vitamins and minerals that teeth need. Including calcium, vitamin d, fiber folic acid, iron, niacin and more. Peanuts, almonds and cashews among others are great choices.
  • Of course dairy products are loaded with calcium and phosphorous as well. These can help with re-mineralization of the teeth and also help strengthen tooth enamel.
  • For you carnivores out there, don’t fret, animal protein contain phosphorous which, when combined with calcium and vitamin D contribute to healthy bones and teeth. Fire up that barbeque!
