Partial & Full Dentures
Tired of hiding your smile and saying “no” to your favorite foods? Partial or complete dentures are a cost-effective solution for missing teeth.
Get your smile back
Tooth loss isn’t just an aesthetic concern, though it can have a big impact on your confidence and self-esteem. It also leads to problems with biting and chewing food, which increases your risk of nutritional deficiencies and health issues.
If you’re not a candidate for dental implants or other treatment options don’t fit your budget, removable partial or full dentures could be a great choice. Our Vancouver dentists will recommend the best type of dentures for your unique needs.
Your full or partial dentures will help you bite, chew, speak, and smile like you used to.
Removable dentures cost less than other teeth replacement options, such as dental implants and bridges.
Dentures provide support for your cheeks, lips, and facial skeleton, making you look healthier and more youthful.
Types of Dentures
Full Dentures
Full dentures are designed to replace all of the teeth in one or both arches. Your dentist will design them to look like natural teeth and fit comfortably. You may need to wear immediate dentures right after tooth extraction because the muscles, ligaments, and gums need time to readjust. Your conventional dentures will be fabricated and fitted after you heal.
Partial Dentures
We offer transitional partial dentures made of acrylic to temporarily replace missing teeth and act as a space maintainer until you’re ready for a dental implant or permanent partial. For a long-term solution, we also have removable partial dentures (RPDs) made out of cast vitallium. The lightweight, durable appliance can be used to replace one or more missing teeth.
How much do dentures cost?
The cost of your dentures will depend on how many teeth we’re replacing, the materials your dentures are made of, and other factors. Once the dentist examines you and creates a treatment plan, they’ll be able to give you an accurate price.
What can I expect when getting removable dentures?
We’ll take digital impressions of your upper and/or lower alveolar ridge using our iTero® Element scanner. A trusted dental lab partner will use the scans to create a base for your dentures, as well as natural-looking prosthetic teeth.
Usually, you’ll wear temporary dentures first so we can make sure you love them. When you’re happy, your permanent dentures will be fabricated. The dentist will evaluate how they work, fit, and look before making any adjustments.
How long do dentures last?
On average, removable dentures last about 10 years. With proper care, they can sometimes last longer.
How do dentures stay in place?
Complete dentures are held in place mostly due to their suctioning effect. When they fit correctly against the alveolar ridge, the natural contours create a seal between the appliance and your gums that holds the denture in place. This highlights the importance of having your dentures properly fitted.
For extra security, some people also choose to use an adhesive. This prevents any movement when chewing or speaking.
Partial dentures typically have a metal framework with clips or attachments that latch onto nearby teeth. This keeps them from moving while you’re wearing them.
