Dr. Sakura Iwagami was raised in Burnaby. She went to University of British Columbia, earning a bachelor’s and master’s degree in microbiology. She was all set to enroll in a doctorate program when she realized that a career in research wasn’t the right fit for her.
Upon finding her calling in dentistry, Dr. Iwagami completed her dental degree at UBC. During dental school, she participated in an oral surgery externship at UBC and University of Chicago.
Dr. Iwagami then spent several years working in the Lower Mainland in various family dental practice settings. She also participated in a volunteer dental mission in Guatemala.
After settling in Kitsilano with her family, Dr. Iwagami joined Kits Family Dental. She enjoys all aspects of dentistry, and is honoured to be given the opportunity to improve her patients’ oral health.
In her spare time, you can find Dr. Iwagami walking her dog and playing hockey. She’s also a member of the Everyday Dentistry Study Club.
