Born and raised in Vancouver, Dr. Robin Mak attended high school at Prince of Wales Mini School. As an enterprising teenager, she had a jewelry line at Blue Ruby and earned money for college by working as a lifeguard and swimming instructor.
Dr. Mak’s efforts paid off, and she received a microbiology degree from the University of British Columbia (UBC). She then went on to dental school at UBC, Faculty of Medicine. After earning her Doctor of Dental Medicine degree, Dr. Mak spent a month providing volunteer dentistry in Vietnam.
Upon returning to Vancouver, Dr. Mak worked as a general dentist. In her spare time, she served as an instructor at Vancouver Dental Hygiene School training hygienists. She also worked as a clinical instructor at UBC teaching the Local Anesthesia and Pediatric Dentistry module to third-year dental students.
Eventually, Dr. Mak founded Kits Family Dental. At the private practice, she strives to deliver exceptional dental care in a fun, welcoming atmosphere. When she’s not helping her patients improve their oral health, she keeps her skills sharp as a member of the Everyday Dentistry Study Club and the Vancouver Invisalign Study Club.
As for her personal life, Dr. Mak can usually be found spending time with her family, including her three daughters (her eldest are twins) and the dog she adopted from Santorini. She also enjoys travelling and staying active by hiking, mountain biking, strength training, and swimming. But her true love, well aside from dentistry and her family, is all things 80s and 90s nostalgia.
