Cosmetic Bonding
Cosmetic dental bonding is a fast, affordable way to give teeth a makeover without a big commitment.
Strong bonds, beautiful smiles
Our second favorite type of bonding is the cosmetic dental kind (bonding with our patients is obviously #1). The treatment involves applying a composite resin material to the enamel to cover imperfections or build-up tooth structure.
Unlike porcelain veneers and crowns, dental bonding doesn’t require removing any enamel. This makes it a great choice for patients who are still growing or aren’t ready to commit to a permanent restoration.
The composite resin forms a strong bond with your enamel. After the material is cured, shaped, and polished, no one will be able to tell you had dental work.
Dental bonding costs much less than getting porcelain veneers or crowns. In fact, it’s one of the most affordable cosmetic treatments.
Treatment is fast, comfortable, and doesn’t involve drilling into your natural tooth, leaving your enamel intact.
Black Triangle Closure
Black triangles, technically called gingival embrasures, are triangular-shaped spaces that occur between teeth by the gumline. They can be caused by age, gum disease, diverging tooth roots after orthodontic treatment, or the shape of your teeth.
Our dentists can perform cosmetic bonding to fill these gaps with composite resin. They harden the resin with a curing light and shape it to look just like your natural teeth.
Resin Infiltration – White Spot Treatment
White spots on the teeth are areas where minerals were lost from your enamel, which is the first stage of tooth decay. Poor oral hygiene, plaque formation around braces brackets, and too much fluoride in childhood can lead to white spots.
ICON is a minimally invasive way to eliminate white spot lesions without a drill or injections. We apply a gel-like resin to the affected area and it enters the tooth’s pore system. This stops the decay, prevents cavity-causing acids from penetrating, and helps the white spots blend in with your healthy enamel.
Veneers
Composite veneers are a cost-effective alternative to porcelain veneers. While they don’t last as long, the procedure is faster and less invasive. The dentist applies the tooth-colored composite resin to your enamel, hardens the material, and polishes it.
Composite veneers look and feel natural. We can use them to hide discoloration, chips, worn enamel, pitting, white spots, mild misalignment, gaps between the teeth, and other minor imperfections.
What can cosmetic dental bonding fix?
Our composite resin treatments can be used to address:
- Chips or cracks
- Small spaces between the teeth
- Mild misalignment
- Short or worn teeth
- Discoloration and stains
- Surface defects
- White spots
- Black triangles
Who can benefit from cosmetic bonding?
Cosmetic dental bonding is a fantastic option for patients whose teeth are relatively healthy but have minor imperfections. The treatment is faster and more affordable than solutions like veneers and crowns.
Because no natural tooth structure has to be removed, our dentists often recommend bonding for kids and teens who need to wait until their teeth are fully mature to get a permanent restoration.
Does dental bonding hurt?
Cosmetic dental bonding doesn’t hurt. In most cases, no natural enamel needs to be removed prior to the procedure. This means you won’t need an injection of local anesthesia.
